Orthodontics for Children
The American Association of Orthodontists and Dr. Murray recommend that your child have their first orthodontic evaluation at the first sign of orthodontic problems or by age seven when permanent teeth begin to erupt.
Your child's teeth have developed enough by this age to allow Dr. Murray to spot subtle problems with emerging teeth and jaw growth before your child loses all of their baby teeth.
Your check-up at Murray Orthodontics may reveal that your child's bite is fine and there is no need for braces. Or, Dr. Murray may identify a developing problem but recommend monitoring your child's growth and development.
After that, we can begin treatment at the best time for your child. You do not need a referral to visit Murray Orthodontics; just call our Palm Beach Gardens and Royal Palm Beach offices for an appointment.
Early treatment with Murray Orthodontics may prevent or intercept more serious problems and make treatment at a later age shorter and less complicated.
In some cases, Dr. Murray can achieve results that may not be possible once your child's face and jaws have finished growing.
Orthodontics for Teens
For teens in Palm Beach Gardens, Royal Palm Beach, and the surrounding areas, the most common time for orthodontic treatment at Murray Orthodontics is between the ages of 11 and 16.
Dr. Murray has experience recognizing spacing, crowding, bite, and alignment issues in this age group. Also, your teen's bone and jaw structure are formed enough to allow orthodontic treatment to begin.
At Murray Orthodontics, your teen can choose between Invisalign, metal braces, or clear ceramic braces. Each of these choices offers unique benefits while transforming your teen’s smile.
Orthodontics for Adults
It’s never too late to improve the health and appearance of your smile! In fact, more than 30% of Dr. Murray’s patients are adults. We offer a number of discreet, barely noticeable treatment options, including Invisalign and small, clear braces.
Believe it or not, your teeth don’t stop moving after your teen years. Teeth that seemed straight and aligned in youth can shift later in life. This can also happen if you had orthodontic treatment in the past but stopped wearing your retainer.
Because misaligned teeth are harder to keep clean, if you leave them untreated, you may be prone to other dental problems such as tooth decay and gum disease. You may also have an increased risk of experiencing jaw pain, difficulty chewing, and abnormal wear on the surface of your teeth.
Why Should You Think About Orthodontic Treatment?
Misaligned teeth can wear down prematurely and trap food particles that cause tooth decay and gum disease. They can also lead to poor chewing, further damaging healthy teeth.
The benefits of straight teeth include:
- Better function.
- Improved cleaning ability.
- More favorable wear patterns on the teeth.
- Greater longevity of the natural teeth.
Straight teeth will also improve the appearance of your smile, which is one of the most important features of your face. Appearance has been related to popularity, social behaviors, personality style, and self-esteem.
Treatment may reduce appearance-consciousness and the emotional scarring that can occur during critical development.
